History

Founded in 1978 in Zeeland, MI, Acme Pallet was originally named Acme Pallet & Box. During the 1980’s, our niche shifted from crates and boxes to new pallets. In 1988, the name was changed to Acme Pallet Inc.

The single facility in Zeeland was producing 1,200 new pallets per week. As the company grew, in 1992 a second neighboring building was acquired. The additional space allowed for the expansion of lumber sawing and increased pallet production. By 1996 the company had outgrown its location in Zeeland and moved to a newly constructed 85,000 square foot facility at 13450 New Holland St in Holland, MI.

In the 2000s, the industry demand shifted so that “same-day deliveries” and daily kanban ordering systems were becoming the new norm. With our growing inventory of 15,000 in stock pallets, demand for dry, pallet storage space was dwindling. In 2013 we expanded our current building to include a 50,000 square foot canopy. This gave much-needed additional space for pallet and lumber inventory.

In 2004, Acme Sawmill was purchased in Walkerville, MI. Primarily a grade mill, the sawmill provides the pallet company in Holland with daily loads of cants. The acquisition of the sawmill allowed us to control a vast amount of our raw material inventory and helped keep customers’ costs down. SL Sawmill in Leroy, MI was constructed in 2011 to meet the growing demand for cut stock lumber.
